Group Therapy

Picture
Groups allow us to connect with others, to understand our challenges as we understand their challenges.  Groups provide us with valuable safe space to share our experiences, as well as valuable feedback to allow our perceptions to be heard from and filtered through different perspectives.  Groups test each individual's ego strength to live not in an echo chamber, but in an atmosphere of differing perspectives that provide acceptance for the individual journey and promote personal growth.  Currently Dr. Goonan is facilitating the following groups:

Adolescent  Growth

Adolescence is a time of life changing possibilities.  It is the combination of personal independence and parental support.  While there are rules and limits, there is also opportunity and support.  Negotiating this stage in the modern era is trickier than ever before.  Between increasing expectations, technology, and the permanent record becoming truly permanent, adolescents and their parents are challenged by a self-expression and future record balance that can be difficult to negotiate.  Adolescent group is a venue to help teens ant their parents determine the best courses for the most desirable outcomes.

New groups start at the beginning of each semester.  Call for a free consultation and more information.

Divorce Group

When parents divorce, it puts a potential strain on their children.  For many children, they see the divorce as unwanted, confusing, and yes ... inconvenient.  Parents who once cared for each other now seem at odds.  This provides a certain level of challenge for children who are seeking not only to love both parents and live under two different roofs, but also to continue to have enough psychological energy to take on the daily challenges they face in an ever pressured world.  Divorce groups can help children to feel less alone as they share in their experiences and to feel more empowered as their learn the personal skills to deal with tense situations.

New groups start tend to start at the beginning of each school semester.  Call for a free consultation and more information.
